Opportunistic Random Beamforming with Mmse Precoding for Spatially Correlated Channels

It has been showed recently that dirty paper coding (DPC) achieves optimum sum-rate capacity in a multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) Gaussian broadcast channels. Unfortunately, this scheme is computationally expensive (complex) at the receiver and transmitter and requires full channel state information (CSI) feedback from all users. Simpler less complex schemes like opportunistic random beamforming (ORBF) are able to match DPC in a large number of user regime. However, in the presence of spatial correlation, a hit is incurred in the RBF SNR. In this project, techniques for ORBF with precoding are investigated to reduce this hit and eventually improve overall sum-rate capacity. Other parameters such as system delay and fairness are also investigated.
